This piece was written for the Birdscramble 100th Issue Recipe Challenge.
haha I really liked this. of course Tiny can cook! And the recipe...well you know I have a potluck easter brunch this weekend and no idea what to bring, Though about making my standby quiche - but this seems as good and quicker!
Author's Response: Hi Nephedra: I hope you liked the spinach pie! I'm glad you liked the story. I suspect that Tiny can cook pretty well and that Jason knows more about cooking than he lets on. As for the rest ... ;)

Author's Response: Good point. History often comes up with different conclusions than those who were in the thick of things. That might make an interesting vignette.

ah yes...he's back! He's not perfect, but it feels great! I like the subtle hints about Mark and Princess. Of course you have still left all kinds of openings for your future work like what's with Grant, and the big attack, and Don and the blackbirds. This was well worth the wait. :) You continue to add depth to your characters, all of them. Your OCs feel like old friends. Thanks so much for sharing!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I know I've said this before but it means a lot when people say they like the OCs. To me they are part of the scenery and couldn't not be there, but I'm aware that's not gonig to be true for anyone else...

If you want to keep your keyboard clean, I do not recommend eating or drinking while reading this! I love all the song lines embedded in the dialog. I agree...Barry Manilow scares me...

Author's Response: Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm trying to do short stories like this to improve, so thats how the series started.
When you have a cover identity to maintain, sometimes just being really, really good at what you do isn't enough. Sometimes you still need the piece of paper to prove it.
Sometimes you need a piece of paper you really should have got round to acquiring several years ago.
Nice one Cath. I know nothing about martial arts and all this sounded good to me. Not too over the top or made-up sounding. I can see this happening too. In your AU it's pretty clear that Mark's childhood was so different from the others. Trained as a child, yes. Just not using conventional methods in my opinion.

A lot of this AU comes from me growing up in the 70s and 80s and superposing what I knew about the real world onto BotP. And I didn't know anyone who'd trained from birth, at anything. I also knew that the Soviet gymnasts started pretty darn young. Hence Mark's background. There's a story in there which I really must write sometime.

Mark's a stickler for the rules. He knows they're there for a reason, and he won't break them for his own gain, no matter how badly he'd like to.
But every rule has a loophole somewhere.

:) Grats Julie! I could be wrong but I think this describes so many of us in some way...admit to writing fan fiction?? I mean most people would think we are crazy. I am not a writer at all unless you count scientific papers which quite frankly are written in a style that only scientists understand. lol. But I have found writing fan fiction interesting and a good learning experience. I wish I could do it more...or get over the writer's block I have in some unfinished stories. Thanks for sharing this.

This is part 2 of my Trials trilogy.
Princess is forced to endure life in a Spectran prison, while remaining under Zoltar's merciless eye.
I found this to be an interesting story that was engaging and thoughtful. The technology descriptions reminded me that their technology is advanced rather than it being just another prison. The insight into your universe and Spectra society is also interesting. For me I found it odd that Princess thought Mark would reject her after her ordeal. To me that doesn't seem likely, but perhaps this will be resolved in part 3. :)

Whether or not it is likely, you have to consider the 'conditions' Princess is being subjected to. She's still very young and never really had a real relationship, so she has no 'experience' in these matters. Add to that the ohysical, mental and emotional stress she's under just as part of her daily life, and adding to that the attacks on her person she has undergone... she's not necessarily thinking with the clearest head.
As for what happens when she gets back... yes, that is the last fic in the trilogy, which will be posted soon.
