Long time fan... Started with BotP back in 1978 and fell in love with Gatchaman after that. I love seeing how the series and its characters tick.

Summary:

A behind-the-scenes look at the operation of the G-Force team. How will G-Force defeat their newest enemy?

Excerpt:

Briefly, I wonder why these are called ten second oil breaks. Who made up that name, anyhow? Certainly, not the engineers who designed this device. It takes at least one hundred seconds for the oil to fully circulate through my circuits, and my operating capacity isn’t optimal unless I stay in the changing platform significantly longer than that.

I can barely admit it to myself, but sometimes… sometimes I purposely stay here even longer than I need to. So that I have a chance to relax, too. How angry would Chief Anderson be if he knew that I thought of these as ten thousand second oil breaks?

Nice, thoughtfully done with excellent attention to detail. I especially liked the end scene, with Rover on Jason's lap and all the parts scattered around. I have three favorite stories about the "Tin Can," and this is one of them.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Although now I'm wondering what other 'favorite' stories you have.... could one of them be 'Someone to Watch Over Me'? ;-)

BTW, I haven't made my way through all of your fics yet (kids, work, and writing my own stuff seem to be taking a lot of time... go figure), but I've loved every one I've read! Keep posting!

Again, more Technicolor Disturbedverse classic. The OC was easy to identify/sympathize with (the scene of the girl on the bicycle especially powerful), and his view of the attacking G-Forcers was nothing more than horrific in a world that's already grim and hardcore. And yet, on the other side, our five heroes are just doing their jobs. There's a lot of fan discussions about how tough it must be to be a professional killer. They should just read this piece.

A sorely underrated story. This has to be one of my favorites of a long list of favorites of yours. Specifically, you demonstrate Joe's dark sense of humor that a lot of fans miss ("Counterstrike of the Vomiting Dead"--HA!). Add to that a wonderfully dark atmosphere, and you have a powerful story.

This has more stuff in it that I can even cover. You did a thorough job of covering just about every Christmas cliche out there. I do have my favorite moments: X irradiating the room after his O. Henry moment with Katse; "The voice was deep and threatening at first, but suddenly the shade realized it couldn't possibly make its voice as deep and threatening as Joe's got just saying 'hello' and 'good morning,' so it dropped the pretense." Joe strangling the goon shade. Joe getting his wish to determine who lives and who dies. The ending with the turkey mech fell a little flat. I don't know why--structurally, there's nothing wrong with it. It didn't have the zing and momentum of the earlier paragraphs. Still, I love this parody!

The first paragraph is the saddest I've read in the BotP universe. "You will look at the lump in the next bed over and look down at the eight feet of fine blue wool carpet that separate your beds and think that it seems to represent the smallest distance that the two of you can bear to have between you." That's just painful to think of Mark viewing Princess in those terms. But then again, you never actually said it was Princess, did you? Then again, who else could hear someone quietly breathing thirty feet away?

I could see Mark longing for brighter horizons, and you know what's even sadder? The fact that I, as the reader, am grieving what he's currently leaving behind more than he is.

Summary: Ever watch a show you liked when you were a kid after you've grown up and then you caught all the innuendo that went over your head when you were 8? This story was inspired by such a thing. Contains a lot of innuendo.
