We all do that. :) I've written things that I saw as humor and later as I go through on the next draft have realized that in fact, it was kind of tragic or cruel, and done a complete 180. Then someone will tell me their take on it and I'll go "huh I never thought of that either."
I wasn't going to say anything but it just kept bugging me, picturing Mark being raised as part of a team and a "family" and then being out in exile, wondering what exactly he was fighting for in the first place. My reaction says as much about me as it does the story, I'm sure!

While I really like most of this story (I've read it more than once now because of that), the end bugs me. Jason's so jealous that he would drive their best friend off to another planet? Frankly in this one I think Mark is the bigger man by far in the end. If Jason's relationship with Princess is so weak that he can't tolerate their best friend staying there, well, they're in trouble. And frankly he's a pretty crappy friend for letting Mark isolate himself from everyone he loves just so Jason doesn't have to deal with petty jealousy.
But usually when I'm that annoyed with something, it means the author created a complex, believable story and characters. ;)
Author's Response: Fair enough. When I was writing this, I couldn't imagine how Mark would 'fit into the equation', given that he can read their minds ALL the time. I wasn't thinking of Jason 'driving him off' at all... more that Mark chose this voluntarily because he didn't want to be in close quarters as they were spending their lives together. It';'s been a long time since i wrote this, but I don't think I was viewing this as you see it at all. Not to say that your view isn't valid, only that it's something that never occurred to me...

I loved this fic. Absolutely brilliant, and everyone believable and in-character. Also loved 1-Rover-1's true purpose! LMAO! Are you a doctor, or a nurse? You had so many little details in there that it made me wonder. Anyway, brilliant! :D

I hadn't had a chance to read this before, so it was a treat to read it while approving it. This was a great read and had some interesting ideas about the Spirit as well as how the implants might work. The ending was a little bitter-sweet considering the bond all 3 now had, but in a way right considering the personality of the Commander. Thanks for the great read. :)
