I just re-read all of these and they really are poignant. It was the Swallow's that made me all teary, somehow. This really would be an excellent move from the Chief, trying to help them enter the war with a bit more perspective than the original team probably had. It's amusing that Mark had originally decided he had to give up his Swan and then she obviously changed his mind at some point. :)

I just re-read all five of these. They're a great portrait of some of the differences between the teams, and a great way to give a group of teenagers a wake-up call that this isn't going to be a cake walk.
