Well done. Well written and you really got into Jason's complex mind.

I liked this. It gives some depth to Jason that we rarely get to see.

Very interesting!  You've clearly given a lot of thought to what makes Jason -to me, the most complicated of the BOTP characters- tick and found good answers, while staying true to the feel of the series itself.

Wow, such an insightful view into Jason's mind! We don't gt to see nearly as mucvh of his inner thoughts or background as we do of Joe, but what you have here fits right in with canon.

And I hope he gets to see Arriana again... after dismantling 7-Zark-7, of course... ;-)

Author's Response: Thank you for your review. This was my first fanfic, so I was pretty nervous about the response I would get. I tried to combine what I could of Joe's background with the "sanitized" BotP universe, trying to find some medium ground that might express what Jason would feel for his world and surrogate family. I am a newcomer to the BotP 'verse, but the alternative it gave from the original Gatchaman series provided a challenge. Besides, I just wanted to give Jason as full a background and set of emotions as we see for Joe, otherwise, it seemed to me that the character was a little flat. I tried to stay within canon limits, while expanding upon what I felt might be behind Jason's actions - some of it drawn and adapted from my own analysis of Joe's personality [ I'm a psychology nut ;) ]. I enjoyed hearing from you - and maybe someday, Jason'll get to flatten Zark! :-)

I enjoyed reading this, Sandmonkeys.  I thought your description of the Celestorian people and their rituals was the most vivid part of the story and I could imagine Jason being hesitantly enthralled with the experience.  I would have liked a bit more description during the scenes involving the team and I did wonder how they protected themselves from radiation exposure.  Overall, though, I thought the plot and story line were very faithful to the series.  I look forward to seeing more of your work.  :)

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing my story. Um... as far as the radiation exposure thing, I figured the series is pretty unconcerned with rationality sometimes, and I might as well take my cue from the original. ; ) Look what happens in the later Gatchaman series when Joe and Ryu are exposed to Sarin gas for what looks like a protracted period, and come out fine, or when Joe comes to rescue Ken from a stranded space ship. When Ken opens the door to let him in, he seems totally unconcerned that he's opening the door onto outer space with an unenclosed helmet! I found these sequences pretty funny, so I felt no qualms about taking a little "artistic license" with my fic. LOL. I elected to skip over the team's actions here because I felt it was more the point of the story to focus on the Celestorian people and Jason's reactions to them. Certainly, we do see such skips in Tatsunoko's original: such as when we see Jun, in season II, go into Seatoland to save doctor Siski: the rest of the team is pretty much ignored the whole episode, so I figured I'd do the same. Thanks for your kind comments and input. I hope to contribute some more fanfic in the future.
