Perhaps this is a little bit of a rant, but this bugs me. I started the "Find Your Active Voice" contest/challenge because I thought it would be a fun challenge for me, and I thought others would enjoy the challenge as well. In this fandom for the creators of challenges  also participate, and it has never been a problem. It's pretty much a given. If the creator thinks the challenge is good enough to go public with, then shouldn't they also demonstrate that it's good enough for they themselves to write in?

At Fanlib, if an entry came in at or under 3 usages per thousand of has/was/were, then they were an automatic finalist. Yes, that included me. But as I am not going to vote in the contest, as I feel that wouldn't be fair, I don't see the problem. It would be up to everyone else to do the voting. Yet there are two postings thinking I shouldn't have submitted anything.

Excuse me? I'm not voting! I have no say in the outcome! Why is this viewed as a problem?

Okay, rant off. But it really makes me not want to host or be apart of a challenge again. Trying to keep things fair, but still participate myself, but I get chastised.

Besides, with how good Cathrl wrote, and the votes in so far there isn't any chance of me winning the contest anyway. Which is fine with me. The goal was to write a good story, and I like to think I did that. Hopefully some people out there will get a few grins out of it.

Time to go get into some chocolate now. Time to see if I can rediscover the writing muse, because she's gone into hiding for the moment...

What is Fanlib and can I go there to read fanfics?  Sorry about your situation and I hope it doesn't put you off any more challenges.  There will always be people out there who get on their high horses about something or other.  I hope you don't let them get to you.  Is there some place I can go to see your fics Julieann?

Fanlib closed its doors last month. No one is quite sure why, but it's thought they ran out of venture capitol. I still love challenges, but I think I'll stick to the ones around here. Come to think of it, it's about time we had another one. Oh Cathrl! Big Grin

Anyway, right now my fanfics are located at:

Gatchfanfic.com - Julieann: For all my BotP and Gatch stuff.

Fanfiction.net - Julieann Dreamer: Has some of my BotP stuff, but also stuff in other fandoms.

MyFandoms.com - Julieann: another site like fanfiction.net that also integrates art and videos. I use it as a backup to fanfiction.net.

Did somebody call my name?

I've actually almost finished what was supposed to be my BotP entry for the active voice challenge. It kinda grew...and kinda stopped being active voice (it's not bad, but it no longer fits the criteria). But once that's done and posted, I'll put some more thought into another more formal challenge for us.

Thanks ever so much for picking me for the win

Congrats to 2nd and 3rd place too. I must say I thought Sarahs scales were rather good.

Thank you also to everyone else who joined in, to make the competition worthwhile. It does seem this contest as hit a little bit of a slump lately, so I do hope people will be keen enough to enter in the future.

Ill get my thinking cap on for the next contest and post the challenge soon - tonight if I can come up with something, otherwise Monday for sure.
