I first saw BotP when it was rerun in the early '80s; I was 7-8 years old.  It was my favorite show growing up.  I fell in love with Mark and I would make up stories pretending to be the sixth member of the team, dating Mark while envisioning Princess and Jason together.  I was devastated when they took it off the air. Cry  I wanted to call up Casey Kasem and ask if I could have copies on VHS.  For years afterward I listened to Casey's Top 40 just to hear Mark's voice.

In college I became active in a science fiction group and one of my friends told me that Gatchaman was the original source material.  No one had copies at the time, so I never saw it until Rhino came out with the first set, which I bought.  It was interesting to note the cultural differences in the two versions.  Having seen the original, BotP is now annoying, especially 7-Zark-7.  Unfortunately I don't have the money to buy the full ADV set, so I'm stuck with memories.  I was shocked to find out Jason died at the end of the (first) series Shocked; I don't remember that at all.  Maybe they never aired that episode?  Or maybe I thought it was part one of a two-parter?  Oh, well.  Also, I never knew about any of the other series or shows until I started reading these fanfics.

As for the website, I first started reading Legend of Zelda fanfics on Zelda specific sites.  Then, a couple of fanart pieces led me to the inspired story "Aceilux" on fanfiction.net.  From there I browsed their catalogue and found the Gatchaman ones.  After replying to one of TransmuteJun's stories, she led me over here.  Don't know why I never did a search for this specifically.

Thanks to the creators for making such a great fan site, and thanks to all the authors and artists who've posted.

This link will show you what Gatchaman episodes were translated into Battle of the Planets: http://www.dreamerscovestudio.com/botp/missions.html

Battle of the Planets had a total of 85 episodes, and Gatchaman had a total of 105 for the first season. So, there were obviously some episodes that Sandy Frank did not translate over. The last 4 episodes that chronicle what happened to Joe does not appear. That hasn't prevented fanfic writers from writing fanfic where Jason goes through the same thing, though!

Glad you found your way over here! We hope you enjoy your stay. Smile

Hello, and welcome Airon Rain! You are in good company, because Joe seems to be the most popular member of the team! And I agree, Gatchaman is the best version to watch if you want the complete, unedited story! I began with Battle of the Planets, and Gatchaman has become my favorite!

I watched G-Force as a kid, but never really diligently, just catching episodes here and there when I was bored. Years later, I had forgotten it until, sometime in 2009, I started thinking about the one episode I had any memories of at all, which was episode 20, season 1. I'll never forget that centrifuge scene: that was what stuck in my mind all those years later, though I had no recollection of the names or premise of the series.

I started looking for G-Force on the internet, and it kept coming up with related results involving the word "Gatchaman". Now I couldn't understand what that had to do with it, but finally I got curious as to why that word kept coming up and clicked on a site at random. I don't even remember what site it was, but I learned that G-Force and this "Gatchaman" were one - just different dubs.

From there, I went on to try to find G-Force episodes on Youtube, and found that someone had uploaded most of the three Gatchaman seasons Bow.

I watched every episode I could find, and fell in love with the series all over again.

I was watching Kamen Rider V3 when I saw a link to Gatchaman episode 1, one of the dubbed ones and watched it out of interest as at that moment the V3 episode was removed Mad and thus I was interested until I found a video titled "Differences between Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets" and I liked the presentation of the Gatchaman series so i watched more.

 A strange tale but true.

I was a BotP fan first time around in the late 70's in the UK.  I too only discovered Gatchaman online a couple of years ago.  I always wanted to be Princess, now I want to be Jun!  However, thinking about things it may explain why I've always wanted to ride a motorcycle and do martial arts!  I was shocked to find that Joe died at the end of gatch 1 too!  What I want to know is where all this romance comes from in the fan fiction?  I love the stories, but in the series did Jun ever enjoy a romance with any of the lads?

Julia, it was never explicitly shown in Gatchaman, but more like strongly implied that Jun was attracted to Ken throughout the series. Whether Ken was oblivious to her attention, or chose to ignore it was never addressed in canon.

In BotP, there was a scene where Mark admits to having 'feelings' for Princess, and of course a lot of innuendo when the two of them visit Zark.

Jinpei/Keyop teases the Swan frequently about her infatuation too.
