I have real problems retconning the combination ship. Why would you do that? The moment there's any damage at all, to any of the components, or anything missing, you no longer have a ship. That's even sillier than the initial "the weapons don't work" concept from series 1.

The New God Phoenix does look awful,  but I can cheerfully believe that there are technical reasons for it to be that way. Looks don't matter in a warship.

First time round, with BotP, it was probably Zark announcing that Jason was fine, it was just stress. He was SO not fine! Though as a plotline I'd have to go for Anderson's casual "Former G-Force member Donald Wade..."oh boy, was that ever the tiny hint of backplot that launched rather a lot of fanfic... And those two are both from the same episode.

When I finally got to see Gatchaman, it was definitely the submarine episode where Joe remembers that his parents worked for Galactor, and...where was the angst and the secrecy and the loner-ness I'd expected? Completely absent. He turned round to Ken and told him what he remembered.

To me, that makes the way he tries to hide his problems at the end so much more poignant. He doesn't hide them because he's the loner and that's what he does. He hides them because it's so awful that he can't even tell someone who he tells everything to.

What program are you using?

If you're putting in the html codes by hand, to end italics you do it exactly the same as to start them except  with a / between the < and the i (I can't do it here, you won't be able to see the codes).

It's one of my favourite episodes, due to the backstory and character development for Joe.

Oh yeah. That one was a real eye-opener for me too. Having read stacks of Gatchaman fanfic before ever seeing any of the series, I nearly fell over when Joe's response to remembering about his parents was to turn around and confide in Ken! I was expecting silence and secrecy and private angst, but not that.

I think I've read that fic, but I can't put a name or author to it. That's going to bug me now...

I think that would have to be G-Force rather than BotP - I don't think that episode is in BotP at all.

I'm not doing it because the wordcount required is simply too much for me, given that I prefer to write longhand first. But I am writing a fic during November instead. I might manage 5,000 words

I created a series for Christmas-themed fics right at the start, but it had to be a closed series for some technical reason to do with efiction so I asked people to email me if they wanted a fic added to it. Do you know if the issue has been fixed, Julieann?

I think I may have had a couple of lists for other holidays, way back when - I seem to remember doing a Valentine's one? I'll take a look.

Of course, if I read a book about writing I'd be admitting to myself that yes, I am considering doing it slightly more seriously, and might conceivably write something that isn't fanfic at some point...
